Book Reviews

Welcome to An Author’s Take where I share my thoughts on books written by other inspiring Christian authors. Like all of you, I love to read! Isn’t reading such a fantastic escape? I enjoy getting drawn into a good story and feeling the emotions as it unfolds. My favorite books are those that seem to end too soon. I love wondering what could happen next.

With this book review service, it is my goal to introduce you to new authors and some books you haven’t read yet. I promise to provide only honest reviews with just enough detail to pique your interest. I will let you know where to find the books and share if they are on tour.

All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the story!

Blessings,
Jeannine

Hope Like Wildflowers

Blooming Through Adversity I have to say, Hope Like Wildflowers by Pepper Basham blew me away. It’s the best book I’ve read all year, and that’s saying something! This was my first experience with Basham’s writing, and I’m already hooked. She’s officially one of my favorite authors of Christian historical fiction now. The story takes us to the Appalachian mountains in the 1910s, where we meet Kizzie McAdams. Poor Kizzie can’t seem to catch a break. After an unplanned pregnancy

Suddenly Unemployed

Faith, Resilience, and Finding Hope In Suddenly Unemployed, Rebecca Krusee shares a deeply personal story about losing her job, her home, and the life she worked hard to build. After spending 15 years as a manager in Silicon Valley, she lost everything when her company outsourced her departments overseas. Her book is an honest look at how job loss can shake every part of your life—from financial stability to personal identity—and how it affects your family, too. Krusee’s writing is

Return to the Wilderness

Secrets, Survival, and Slow-Burning Romance Return to the Wilderness was a surprising, refreshing read that hits all the right notes in historical romance. Andrea Byrd brings Muireall and Jude to life in such an authentic way that it’s impossible not to feel connected to them. Both are outcasts with secrets they guard closely, and though they’re initially thrown together out of necessity, their relationship blossoms into something beautiful, raw, and hard-earned. I loved how their partnership felt real—nothing about their

Trail to Love

A Journey of Faith and Healing This is my first time reading a book by Susan F. Craft, and I absolutely loved Trail to Love. Craft has a wonderful way of blending historical detail with a heartfelt romance that feels both authentic and uplifting. This Christian Historical Romance, set during the era of wagon trains, captured my attention right from the start. Trail to Love follows Anne Forbes, a woman grieving the loss of her fiancé who seems to have
